After a brilliant season, Phillippe Gilbert awarded as Sportsman of the Year in Belgium. Gilbert, won the price ahead of world 400 meters bronze medalist Kevin Borlee.

Gilbert won Amstel Gold Race, La Flèche Wallonne, Montepaschi Strade Bianche, Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Clásica de San Sebastián classics this year. He won the opening stage and wore the green, yellow and red dots jersey in the Tour de France.

Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad wrote that Tour de France will end with Alpe d’Huez climb in 2013. According to Het Nieuwsblad, the famous climb will be passed 2 times at the last stage and stage will be end at the top of the Alpe d’Huez.

Traditionally, the Tour de France ends with a short sprint stage in Paris. The last stage is ceremonial and nobody attacks the tour leader’s yellow jersey.
